ABSTRACT

In this project we created virtual reality integrated computer game which enables the player to control a ball in a virtual world using his body movements. Although the project’s name is “Virtually Playing Catch”, eventually we built a basketball game instead of a catch game due to hardware limitations. In the game the player needs to catch a ball thrown towards him and shoot it into a basket, therefore it contains all the issues exists in a catch game. The virtual world is revealed to the payer throw virtual reality headset, and his body movements are being captured by a 3D camera.

The main challenge in the project is to make the actions in the virtual environment natural and similar as possible to the real world.
